Marathon sells trio into US

Cartoon Network US has picked up three animated series from French producer-distributor Marathon Media.

The channel has acquired The Amazing Spiez (52x26') a boys-skewed comedy produced by Zodiak Entertainment-owned Marathon.

[SB Passion 5] It has also acquired the fifth season of hit family series Totally Spies, as well as feature film Totally Spies The Movie.

Zodiak Primbon Marathon said the latest sales confirm it as the only European production company to have sold all of its animated programmes – a total of 404 episodes – to major US networks (Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Disney XD) over the past five years.

Vincent Chalvon Demersay, CEO of Marathon Media, said: "There is no other non-American series as long-lived and successful as Totally Spies.

"Some episodes have aired more than 70 times in the US and 45 times in France, making it our most widely watched animation property to date."

The three programmes are distributed by Zodiak Entertainment Worldwide.
